Katy Perry is richer than Taylor Swift and Beyoncé

While Taylor Swift was barbecuing for hundreds of her model friends this weekend, Katy Perry was named FORBES’ third highest paid celebrity of 2015 (aside from Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, who topped the list). That means she beat out Swift and Beyoncé.

It turns out she didn’t need a “1984” revenge song, or a gimmicky music video. She’s richer than God.

Perry landed the July cover of Forbes as the wealthiest non-boxer celebrity wearing (of course) a jacket covered in dollar bill signs. Knowing her, I’m surprised she didn’t wear a Monopoly costume.

What I love about this news is the pride she takes in her work. On Instagram, she wrote:

Before accepting the offer to be on the cover of Forbes, I was told that a lot of women have previously shied away from doing it. I wondered if it was because they thought socially it would look like they were flaunting or bragging or it wasn’t a humble decision. Ladies, there is a difference between being humble and working hard to see the fruits of your labor blossom, and your dreams realized. Hopefully this cover can be an inspiration to women out there that it’s okay to be proud of hard earned success and that there is no shame in being a boss. Also…don’t think that I didn’t celebrate this moment by going straight to Taco Bell and getting my crunch wrap supreme.

For someone who claimed not to be a feminist not too long ago, she sure acts like it. If you don’t remember, last year when Perry was asked whether she identified as one, she said, “A feminist? Uh, yeah, actually. I used to not really understand what that word meant, and now that I do, it just means that I love myself as a female and I also love men."

After her publicist slapped her in the face, she recently told Forbes, “It’s just an absolute equality. I consider myself a feminist now. …I’m really happy to be on the cover as a strong female who has created her own career.”

Perry isn’t the only dumbass who is confused by feminism. Shailene Woodley said, “I think the idea of 'raise women to power, take the men away from the power' is never going to work out because you need balance.”

Okay.

Dumbassery aside, I’m glad Perry is being loud about her success. She earned it. And hopefully more women will be as unapologetic.
